When Zeke Smith and Nico Santos stepped on stage at the 33rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards, only one of them knew exactly what was about to go down on stage. While Zeke and Nico were indeed there to present a reel recognizing GLAAD Media Award winners in categories presented off-stage, Zeke had a surprise in store for Nico when he proposed – and HE SAID YES!

Zeke, an openly trans writer-comedian who appeared on two seasons of Survivor, and Nico, star of Crazy Rich Asians and Superstore, first met when they both presented at the GLAAD Media Awards in 2018. After briefly recounting how they met, Zeke then turned to Nico and said “Your love taught me how to love. You are my other half. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you” before getting down on one knee and putting a ring on Nico’s finger.

The crowd, of course, went wild watching this beautiful declaration of love and we’re sure you will too when you watch the video below. Congratulations to the happy, newly engaged couple! (Maybe next year we get an on-stage wedding?)
