The GLAAD Wrap: 'Crush' trailer has dropped, 'The Wilds' season two trailer is out, new music from Pabllo Vittar, Orville Peck, and more!

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1) The trailer is out for upcoming Hulu original film Crush, which stars out actresses Rowan Blanchard and Auli’i Cravalho. The film follows an ambitious young artist who, when forced to join her high school track team, initially capitalizes on it to pursue the girl she’s been harboring a long-time crush on. But she begins to instead fall for an unexpected teammate and soon discovers what real love feels like.

2) Out trans actress Talisa Garcia has been cast in upcoming Disney+ series Willow. The prequel to the 1980s fantasy film of the same name features a princess who recruits a party to join her on a quest to rescue her twin brother. Garcia will play a Queen and mother to one of the princess’s party members.

3) The trailer for season two of The Wilds has been released. A group of teenage girls stranded on a seemingly deserted island have actually been secretly recruited into an elaborate social experiment. The series picks up after the discovery that there’s a new set of subjects, an island of teenage boys, who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment’s research head. Season one saw a queer romance develop between teen girls Toni (Erana James) and Shelby (Mia Healey).

4) The trailer for upcoming series Outer Range has officially dropped. Josh Brolin plays Royal Abbott, a rancher fighting to protect his land and family after the disappearance of his daughter-in-law and an untimely death in their small-town community, when he suddenly discovers an unfathomable mysterious black void at the edge of his land. Tamara Podemski plays Deputy Sheriff Joy Hawk, the first gay Native American in Wyoming to become acting sheriff; but she’s facing an election that could replace her with yet another white man, no matter how good she is at her job.

5) First-look photos for season seven of Grace and Frankie have been released. The series follows divorcées and frenemies Grace (Jane Fonda) and Frankie (out actress Lily Tomlin) whose husbands Robert (Martin Sheen) and Sol (Sam Waterson) left them to marry each other. Additionally, the official trailer for season two of Russian Doll has dropped. Set four years after Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (out actor Charlie Barnett) escaped mortality’s time loop together, this season finds them delving deeper into their pasts through an unexpected time portal located in one of Manhattan’s most notorious locations. At first, they experience this as an ever-expanding, era-spanning, intergenerational adventure, but they soon discover this extraordinary event might be more than they bargained for and, together, must search for a way out. Greta Lee will return as Nadia’s queer friend Maxine.

6) Out actor Mario Cantone has joined the guest cast for season two of musical comedy series Girls5eva. The main cast includes out comedian and actress Paula Pell as one of the members of “Girls5eva,” a girl group that achieved fame in the year 2000 only to flame out after their one hit wonder and the tragic death of their lead member Ashley (Ashley Park) in an infinity pool accident. Two decades later, they reunite to perform when the song is sampled by an up-and-coming rapper, and decide to relaunch their group in a new era. Pell plays Gloria, lesbian and self-proclaimed “always working one” of Girls5eva who also is a dentist divorced from her wife. In more TV news,  Out dancer, singer and YouTuber JoJo Siwa has joined the new cast of judges for season seventeen of reality dance competition show So You Think You Can Dance.

7) Out singer and drag star Pabllo Vittar has released a music video for the single “follow me” featuring out pop star Rina Sawayama. Watch it below! Sofi Tukker have released a music video for the single “Kakee” off their upcoming album WET TENNIS (watch it here!).

8) Orville Peck’s new album Bronco is out today. Stream it here and watch the music video for his song “Let Me Drown (Live in Nashville)” below!. In other music news, Kehlani has released the new single “up at night” featuring Justin Beiber (listen here!). Hercules & Love Affair and ANOHNI have released the new single “Poisonous Storytelling” off their upcoming album In Amber (listen here!)

9) This year’s out winners at the 64th Grammy Awards include Lady Gaga and Tony Bennet’s album Love for Sale (Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album), St. Vincent’s album Daddy’s Home (Best Alternative Music Album), Tyler, The Creator’s album Call Me If You Get Lost (Best Rap Album), and Brothers Osborne’s single “Younger Me” (Best Country Duo/Group Performance).

10) Netflix Is A Joke: The Festival has added STAND OUT: An LGBTQ+ Celebration to its lineup with Billy Eichner to host. An extensive cornucopia of out comedians will perform, including Bob the Drag Queen, Mae Martin, Margaret Cho, River Butcher, Tig Notaro, Trixie Mattel, and others – even more are to be announced.
