January 16 – 22: No Name-Calling Week – Organized for K-12 schools to end bullying and name-calling in schools by GLSEN

January 27: International Holocaust Rememberance Day – Or Yom Hashoah marks the day of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. This day marks the remembrance of the six million jewish lives, as well as millions of others, lost to the holocaust, including the forgotten queer lives targeted in Nazi Germany.

February:

Black History Month

February 7: National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – Increases HIV education, testing, community involvement, and treatment among Black communities

February 20-26: Aromantic Spectrum Awareness Week – An international event meant to spread awareness and acceptance of aromantic spectrum identities and the issues aromantic people face. The ‘A’ in LGBTQIA represents millions of Asexual, Agender and Aromantic folks part of the “a-spec” or asexual spectrum, which reflects how people do or don’t experience romance on a spectrum. Aromantic, similar to asexuality, is defined as someone who does not experience romantic attraction to anyone

March:

Bisexual Health Awareness Month

March 1: Zero Discrimination Day – Highlights the urgent need to take action to end inequalities of income, sex, age, health status, occupation , disability sexual orientation, gender identity, race, class, religion, drug use andethnicity that persist around the globe

March 10: National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – Learn more about the impact of HIV and AIDS on women and girls

March 20: National Native HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – Draws attention to the impact of HIV on Native communities, as well as to call for access to testing and treatment

March 31: International Transgender Day of Visibility – Shows support for the transgender community by spreading knowledge and awareness of the transgender community and its various members around the world

April:

April 6: International Asexuality Day – Is a coordinated international campaign promoting the asexual spectrum, including demisexuality, grey-asexuality and other ace identities; the four themes of IAD are Advocacy, Celebration, Education and Solidarity

April 10: National Youth HIV & AIDS Awareness Day – Focuses on the impact of HIV/AIDS on youth and highlights the work youth lead in the fightagainst AIDS

April 18: National Transgender HIV Testing Day – Recognizes the importance of routine HIV testing, status awareness, and continued focus on HIV prevention and treatment efforts among transgender and gender non-binary people

April 22: Day of Silence – A student-led demonstration where LGBTQ students and allies all around the country (from middle school to college) take a vow of silence to protest the harmful effects of harassment and discrimination of LGBTQ people in schools

April 26- May 2: Lesbian Visibility Week – Visibility campaign to publicly identify yourself as a lesbian or support the lesbians in your life

May:

May 17: International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia – Draws attention to the situation faced by LGBTQ, and intersex people around the world

May 18: HIV Vaccine Awareness Day – Commemorates the volunteers, community members, health professionals, and scientists working together to find a safe and effective preventive HIV vaccine, as well as to educate about the importance of HIV vaccine research

May 19: National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – Ends silence and shame about HIV/AIDS in Asian and Pacific Islander communities

May 19: Agender Pride Day – Celebrates agender people as well as brings awareness; agender falls under the nonbinary umbrella (and sometimes the transgender umbrella) as genderfree genderless, ungendered or null gender

May 22: Harvey Milk Day – Celebrates and educates the political work of the first openly gay activist and organizer to be elected to public office in the country in the late 1970s. As a member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors Harvey drafted many gay rights ordinances for the city furthering the Gay Rights Movement

May 24: Pansexual and Panromantic Awareness and Visibility Day – Celebrates pansexual and panromantic communities and educates others about the community. Pansexuality is forming connections emotional, sexual and/or to all-genders without preference, whereas, panromantic is forming romantic attractions (not necessarily sexual) regardless of gender

June:

LGBTQ Pride Month

June 5: HIV Long-Term Survivors Day – Celebrates and honors long-term survivors of the epidemic and raises awareness of their needs, issues, and journeys

June 12: Pulse Remembrance Day – Remembering the lives lost of the 2016 massacre in Orlando Florida where 49 LGBTQ lives were lost to gun violence.

June 27: National HIV Testing Day – Encourages people to get tested for HIV, know their status, and get linked to care and treatment

June 28: The Stonewall Riots Anniversary – Kicks off the modern LGBTQ movement and recognizes the LGBTQ uprising outside New York City’s Stonewall Inn on Christopher Street in 1968

June 30 : Queer Youth of Day – Proclaims a simple message to youth: Take pride in all of who you are, including your gender identity, sexuality, ethnicity, and faith

July:

July 6: Omnisexual Visibility Day – Brings awareness to omnisexuality, often confused with pansexuality, is a person who forms emotional, physical and/or attracted to all and any gender with a preference

July 11-17: Nonbinary Awareness Week – Is a week of celebration and awareness building surrounding nonbinary and gender nonconforming people.

July 14: International Nonbinary Day – A day within Nonbinary Awareness Week whcih adds extra focus to the nonbinary community as well as the vast gender spectrum. Nonbinary people experience gender between the binary of male and female and sometimes completely outside of the binary all-together

July 16: International Drag Day – A day that celebrates drag art all around the world

August:

August 14: Gay Uncle Day – A fun day that was born of an instagram posts with a photos of LGBTQ people and their siblings’ children along with the hashtag: #GayUnclesDay or sometimes called Guncles Day. The day and hashtag are a sign of solidarity from allies and biological families to celebrate their LGBTQ family’s relationship with their children.

September:

September 18: National HIV/AIDS and Aging Awareness Day – Brings attention to the growing number of people living long and full lives with HIV, and to their health and social needs

September 16–23: Bisexual Awareness Week – Celebrates the bisexual community, or those who experience emotional, physical and/or romatic connections to the same gender or another gender

September 23: Celebrate Bisexuality Day – Brings together everyone under the bisexual umbrella for visibility and support

September 27: National Gay Men’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Day – Recognizes the disproportionate impact of the epidemic on gay men

October:

LGBT History Month 

October 11: National Coming Out Day – Celebrates LGBTQ people’s coming out experiences and journeys

October 15: National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day – Reaches Latinx/Hispanic communities to promote HIV testing, and provide HIV prevention information and access to care

October 19: International Pronoun Day – A day which seeks to make the use, respect and education of pronouns a commonplace

October 21: Spirit Day – Millions of people wear purple in a stand against bullying and to show their support for LGBTQ youth

October 22-28: Asexual Awareness Week – Educates about asexual, aromantic, demisexual, and grey-asexual experiences and to create materials that are accessible to the asexual community and allies around the world

October 26: Intersex Awareness Day – Commemorates the first public demonstration by intersex people in North America.

November:

Transgender Awareness Month

November 6: Transgender Parent Day: A day to celebrate the life and love between transgender children and their parents or transgender parents and their children

November 8: Intersex Solidarity Day (is also known as Intersex Day of Remembrance) – Marks the birthday of Herculine Barbin, a now-famous French intersex person

November 13-19: Transgender Awareness Week – The week leading up to International Transgender Day of Rememberance where we remember the lives lost to transphobic violence

November 20: International Transgender Day of Remembrance – Memorializes those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice

December:

December 1: World AIDS Day – Unites people in the fight against HIV, show their support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from AIDS.

December 8: Pansexual Pride Day – The day celebrates and recognizes pansexuality

December 10: Human Rights Day – is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
