Hong Kong police raid pro-democracy news outlet and arrest six

 

Hong Kong’s national security police have arrested six individuals associated with outspoken pro-democracy media outlet Stand News — including pop star Denise Ho — and raided its office, raising further concerns about diminishing press freedoms in the city.

The independent news website announced on its Facebook page that it has ceased operations and dismissed all employees, effective immediately. The statement said that Stand News will immediately stop updating its website and social media accounts, which will be removed within days.
That announcement comes after police arrested several current and former senior staff members associated with the publication, including pop star Denise Ho. Continue Reading
