1.) The highly-anticipated horror mystery Knock at the Cabin hits theaters today! The former GLAAD list script comes to life under visionary filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan’s direction, telling the story of a gay couple, Andrew and Eric (out actors Ben Aldridge and Jonathan Groff), and their daughter Wen. While vacationing at a remote cabin, the family is taken hostage and forced to make an impossible decision to prevent the apocalypse; save your family or save humanity. 2.) Paramount Pictures’ sports dramedy 80 for Brady is in theaters now! Inspired by true events, four best friends— out actress Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda, Rita Moreno, and Sally Field— take an epic journey to the 2017 Super Bowl LI to meet their hero, the seven-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady. 3.) GLAAD Media Award-nominated film Spoiler Alert is now available to stream exclusively on Peacock! Based on Michael Ausiello’s best-selling memoir, the film spans the eleven months between his husband Kit’s terminal cancer diagnosis and his passing. The tragic, funny, and heartwarming story highlights Michael and Kit’s passionate 14-year relationship, portrayed by out actors Jim Parsons and Ben Eldridge, respectively. 4.) Another GLAAD Media Award-nominee and Sundance Award-winning documentary Framing Agnes is now available to rent or purchase on Kino! Directed by out filmmaker Chase Joynt and executive produced by GLAAD’s own Director of Transgender Representation Alex Schmider, the film explores how transgender people have been perceived and represented in the past and present, while widening the frame through which trans history is viewed. Blending fiction and nonfiction, an all-star cast of trans performers, artists, and thinkers— including Angelica Ross, Jen Richards, Zackary Drucker, Silas Howard, Max Wolf Valerio, and Stephen Ira— bring to life groundbreaking artifacts and debunk the myth of isolation among trans history-makers. 5.) Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has also made its streaming debut on Disney+! Marvel’s hit sequel to 2018’s Black Panther picks up after the death of King T’Challa, as Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje fight to protect their nation from forces that seek to strike in a moment of transition. Be sure to keep an eye out for a queer romantic moment between Aneka (Michaela Coel) and Ayo (Florence Kasumba).
6.) Queer actress Jasmin Savoy Brown has been tapped to lead the upcoming sci-fi horror Green Bank, alongside Tatiana Maslany. In an American town where wifi, cell service and all other radio transmissions are heavily forbidden, Brown plays an infant sleep-trainer who realizes that the parents of the child she’s caring for are much less clueless than they appear.
7.) With the third and final seaon of Star Trek: Picard on the horizon, Paramount+ has released an official trailer! In the season, premiering February 16, Admiral Jean-Luc Picard is reunited with allies spanning generations old and new, including returning queer characters Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) and Raffi (Michelle Hurd). Watch the trailer below! In more TV news, Starz has renewed Power Book II: Ghost, ahead of its third season premiere on March 17! A sequel to the series Power, Power Book II: Ghost features queer characters Dru Tejada (Lovell Adams-Gray) and Everett (gay actor Bradley Gibson). Additionally, Apple TV+ has picked up the bilingual comedy Acapulco for a third season, featuring lesbian character Sara (Regina Reynoso), and Peacock has renewed a second season of the reality series The Traitors, hosted by out actor Alan Cumming.
8.) HBO’s new hit drama The Last of Us has been renewed for a second season! The Last of Us series adaptation expands on its queer representation from the beloved video game franchise, including delving into the history of couple Frank (Emmy Award-winning actor Murray Bartlett) and Bill (Nick Offerman). Lead character Ellie is also a lesbian in the game, and the second season renewal is a great opportunity to explore her backstory. Catch the next episode Sunday on HBO or HBO Max. In more HBO news, an upcoming documentary series about gay comedian Jerrod Carmichael has been announced. In his quest for love, sex, and connection, the series centers Carmichael’s personal life through encounters with friends, family, and strangers. 9.) Out artist Sam Smith has released a music video for single “I’m Not Here To Make Friends”, off their recently released album Gloria; watch it below! In more music video news, Taylor Swift dropped her long-awaited video to “Lavender Haze”, starring trans model and actor Laith Ashley as her love interest. Queer pop-indie artist Hallie has also released their debut EP This Is Love, featuring the newest single “Shift The Focus” with an accompanying music video. Lastly, out singer-songwriter Adam Lambert has released a new single “Getting Older”, off his forthcoming album High Drama, coming February 24; watch the official visualizer!
10.) Lincoln Center Theater’s revival of the classic Lerner & Loewe musical Camelot has released a first-look image and a new trailer, featuring recently announced gay actors Taylor Trensch and Anthony Michael Lopez. Watch the trailer below and catch out Tony Award-winning actor Andrew Burnap as the leading Arthur at Vivian Beaumont Theater on April 13, with previews starting March 9!
11.) Nickelodeon has unveiled the nominees for its 2023 Kids’ Choice Awards! Queer inclusive TV programs and films scored a number of nods, including High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Raven’s Home, The Loud House, Cobra Kai, iCarly, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, Stranger Things, Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Lightyear, and Monster High The Movie. Out talent was also recognized, as Raven-Symoné, Joshua Bassett, Keke Palmer, Lady Gaga, Dove Cameron, and Jojo Siwa all received nominations.
