1.) Focus Features has unveiled the official poster for Of an Age, coming to select theaters February 10! Set in the summer of 1999, a 17-year-old Australian amateur ballroom dancer experiences an unexpected and intense 24-hour romance with a friend’s older brother. 2.) A24 has released the first trailer for Beau Is Afraid, featuring out Only Murders in the Building actor Nathan Lane. The surrealist comedy-horror centers a neurotic man as he attempts to make the perilous journey home to visit his overbearing mother. Check out the trailer below and catch Beau is Afraid in theaters April 21!
3.) Amazon Prime Video has debuted a trailer for their forthcoming romantic comedy Somebody I Used to Know, premiering on the streamer February 10! The film’s protagonist Ally faces a major professional setback, sending her running to the comforts of her hometown. Here, Ally reconnects with her first love Sean and his soon-to-be wife Cassidy (queer Dope star Kiersey Clemons), who reminds her of the person she used to be. Watch the trailer below!
4.) Emmy-nominated actress, singer, and activist Michaela Jaé Rodriguez has been set to star in Wildfire. The thriller follows 7-year-old Lu, who accidentally starts a fire and slyly tricks Merribelle (Rodriguez), a hardworking trans woman, into kidnapping her. In more casting news, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial has added bisexual actress Monica Raymund to its ensemble. The film takes a modern spin on Herman Wouk’s 1951 original, following the United States Navy while on trial for mutiny. Raymund plays Challee, a Lieutenant prosecuting attorney who argues that Commander Queeg was wrongfully relieved of his duties during the court-martial.
5.) Fresh off of three Golden Globe wins this week, ABC’s hit workplace comedy series Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a third season! Abbott Elementary celebrates our school system’s unsung heroes and public servants, focusing on a group of dedicated Philadelphia teachers, including the awkward gay history teacher Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti). Watch the latest episode of season two this Wednesday on ABC and Hulu! In more ABC news, the network has announced a Jeopardy! spin-off called Jeopardy! Masters, bringing back transgender GLAAD Media Award-honoree Amy Schneider. Schneider, whose 40-game streak in season 38 landed her at No. 2 on the show’s all-time consecutive wins list, faces the six-highest ranked contestants in the hopes of winning a grand prize and the coveted title of ‘Jeopardy! Masters Champion’.

6.) Hulu has revealed the trailer for the second season of How I Met Your Father, set to premiere January 24! In the season, Sophie and her close-knit group of friends, including queer character Ellen (lesbian actress, comedian, and writer Tien Tran), stumble into their 30’s while figuring out who they are and what they want. Check out the trailer below! In more tv news, Starz has rescued Minx, a queer-inclusive and sex-positive feminist comedy featuring gay actor Oscar Montoya! Following the series’ reversed renewal by HBO Max, Starz has picked up both season one and the unaired season two. Keep your eyes peeled for more updates as the Minx cast and crew wrap production on the highly-anticipated second season!
7.) Gay author Adam Silvera’s No. 1 New York Times bestselling YA novel They Both Die at the End is coming to the small screen! Netflix has announced a forthcoming series adaptation from out Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen, Yellowjackets executive producer Drew Comins, and music superstar Bad Bunny— the queer sci-fi series tells tale of Mateo Torrez and Rufus Emeterio, two complete strangers who have one last day to make a lifetime of memories together!
8.) Ahead of its midseason premiere next week, Grown-ish has been renewed for a sixth season at Freeform! On the heels of Zoey’s graduation, the series continues to follow her younger brother Junior as he attempts to mark his own name on campus. Watch the midseason trailer below, featuring Zaara (out actor and model Tara Raani), a queer first-generation Muslim-American student at Cal U! In other Freeform news, the breakout anthology series Cruel Summer has been set to return for its sophomore season this summer! Created by out writer and executive producer Bert V. Royal, the next chapter of Cruel Summer explores intense teenage friendship, with a blossoming love triangle between Megan, Isabella, and Megan’s best friend Luke. Additionally, Freeform has set a slew of spring premiere dates, including inclusive series Good Trouble (season five premiering on March 16), Single Drunk Female (season two premiering on April 12), and Love Trip: Paris (season one premiering February 14)!
9.) Paramount+ has renewed the expansion series Criminal Minds: Evolution for a second season, with out stars Kirsten Vangsness and Aisha Tyler reprising their roles in the BAU! The current season, which returned this week after the midseason finale, follows an elite FBI team of criminal profilers as they go up against a network of serial killers. In other Paramount+ news, CBS’ hit comedy Ghosts has been renewed for a third season. The series features queer characters Isaac (out actor Brandon Scott Jones) and Nigel (John Hartman), deceased beings inhabiting the beautiful country home of a struggling young couple. Tune in to this Thursday’s episode, recently moved from 9:00pm to 8:30pm!
10.) The 2023 Coachella Music and Arts Festival lineup has been released, with out musician Frank Ocean headlining Sundays April 16 & 23. Additional queer performers include MUNA, Willow, boygenius, DJ Kaytranada, Remi Wolf, YUNGBLUD, and more! The out Grammy-winning folk rock duo Indigo Girls have been tapped to perform at Opening Night: A Taste of Sundance, a new fundraiser kicking off Sundance Film Festival on January 19. The Indigo Girls are also set to premiere their new documentary Only Life After All at the festival. In other music news, LGBTQ producer, singer, and songwriter LLYNKS (Sara Kendall) has released a new track entitled “Heaven Sing Now”; check out the visualizer here! Queer pop/rock band Hyphen Hyphen has revealed a live video for the single “Own God”, off their upcoming album C’est la Vie, out January 20! Pre-order the album here and check out the video below! Last but certainly not least, queer singer-songwriter Olive Klug has released a new single “Coming of Age”; listen to the song here!
11.) Parade, starring out actor Ben Platt and Micaela Diamond, is heading back to Broadway this spring! Inspired by historical events, the infamous musical follows a Jewish couple in Georgia during a 1913 murder trial, imprisonment, and eventual lynching. The limited engagement begins February 21 at Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre, with a March 16 opening night and an expected closing date of August 6!

12.) Queer-inclusive programs and out performers have received nods from numerous award shows this week! Starting off strong, SAG-AFTRA has released their nominations for the guild’s 29th annual SAG Awards, featuring a plethora of LGBTQ standouts led by Everything Everywhere All at Once with five nominations. Other inclusive nominees include Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2), Better Call Saul (3), The White Lotus (2), Abbott Elementary (2), Hacks (2), Only Murders in the Building (3), Tár, Babylon, The Boys, and Barry. In more award show news, the Writers Guild of America has unveiled the nominations for its 75th annual WGA Awards. LGBTQ nominees include Better Call Saul, Yellowjackets, Abbott Elementary, Barry, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, Bad Sisters, The White Lotus, The Staircase, Tuca & Bertie (“The Pain Garden”), The Good Fight (“The End of Everything”), Grace and Frankie (“The Beginning”), What We Do in the Shadows (“Private School”), Reservation Dogs (“Wide Net”), GLAAD Media Award-winning series Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, Saturday Night Live, Stand Out: An LGBTQ+ Celebration, and Jerrod Carmichael: Rothaniel. Digital news segments “America’s Only LGBTQ Historic District Is Falling Apart” from VICE and “What’s So Scary About a Transgender Child?” from VOX have also been nominated. The 27th annual Excellence in Production Design Awards nominees include queer programs Everything Everywhere All at Once, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Babylon, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Tár, Lightyear, Stranger Things, Better Call Saul, The White Lotus, Station 11, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building, What We Do in the Shadows, The Conners, RuPaul’s Drag Race, Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party, and Our Flag Means Death. Finally, The American Society of Cinematographers have announced their nominations for its 37th annual ASC Awards, which gives looks to the inclusive programs Hacks, Barry, Atlanta, Russian Doll, and Better Call Saul. 13.) The 34th annual Producers Guild Award nominations have been announced! Everything Everywhere All at Once, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, and Tár are all competing for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures; The White Lotus and Better Call Saul are up for the Norman Felton Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television – Drama; Abbott Elementary, Only Murders in the Building, Hacks, and Barry are nominated for the Danny Thomas Award for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television – Comedy; Fire Island is competing for the Award for Outstanding Producer of Televised or Streamed Motion Pictures; Saturday Night Live is nominated for the Award for Outstanding Producer of Live Entertainment, Variety, Sketch, Standup & Talk Television; RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars is up for the Award for Outstanding Producer of Game & Competition Television; and Fraggle Rock: Back to the Rock is nominated for the Award for Outstanding Children’s Program!
