1.) Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story has been released on Netflix! Executive produced by GLAAD’s Director of Transgender Representation Alex Schmider, the documentary chronicles competitive skating icon Leo Baker’s lead-up to the 2020 Olympics while he attempts to make space for himself as a trans and non-binary athlete in the gendered world of pro sports and build a more inclusive skate culture. 2.) Netflix has released the first trailer for its upcoming dark comedy Do Revenge, lead by Stranger Things breakout star Maya Hawke and Riverdale star Camila Mendes. After a clandestine run-in, queer transfer student Eleanor (Hawke) teams up with fallen it-girl Drea (Mendes) to take vengeance on each other’s tormentors. 3.) Out filmmaker Elegance Bratton’s narrative feature debut The Inspection has been set for its U.S. premiere at the 60th New York Film Festival on October 14. Based on Battron’s personal experience as a gay man in the Marine Corps, the film paints a portrait of American masculinity during the military’s “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” era. Out actor Jeremy Pope stars as Ellis French, a young, gay Black man, who desperately seeks the approval of his mother and struggles to disguise his sexual orientation at boot camp.
4.) Gay actors Andrew Rannells and Isaac Powell have boarded the forthcoming drama Our Son, starring out icon Billy Porter and Luke Evans. The film follows a divorcing couple (Porter and Evans) as they fight for custody over their eight-year-old son. In more casting news, out Grey’s Anatomy star Chyler Leigh has been set to star in the Hallmark Channel’s film The Way Home. Leigh portrays Kat Landry, who returns to her small hometown with her none-too-thrilled daughter after receiving an unexpected letter from her estranged mother. The film follows the three generations of women as they find their footing as a family and embark on a journey none of them could have ever imagined.

5.) Hulu has announced the upcoming docu-series Planet Sex with Cara Delevingne, premiering with all six episodes November 18. The series follows the LGBTQ icon as she searches for answers regarding human sexuality, identity, and beyond! In every episode, Cara puts her mind and body on the line in an immersive journey through unfiltered and authentic conversations and discoveries about what makes us all human. Additionally, out Grammy-nominated twins Tegan and Sara Quin have announced the world premiere of their coming-of-age series High School at the Toronto International Film Festival. Based on their best-selling memoir of the same name, the series stars TikTok personalities Railey and Seazynn Gilliand. Set in the backdrop of the 1990s, High School centers the lives of the Quin twins as they grow into their authentic selves and express their inner worlds through music.

6.) Showtime’s The L Word: Generation Q has set new guest stars for its upcoming third season, including out comedian, actress, and LGBTQ advocate Margaret Cho. Additionally, transgender actress and model Jamie Clayton has been upped to a series regular and will return as Tess, the bar manager at Dana’s who becomes intertwined with Shane (out actress Katherine Moennig) professionally and romantically. The L Word: Generation Q returns November 20! In other TV news, OWN has set the premiere date for the seventh and final season of Queen Sugar. The series chronicles the life of estranged Bordelon siblings— including bisexual journalist and activist Nova, played by out actress Rutina Wesley— who come together to run the clan’s struggling sugar cane farm. 7.) Out actress Crawford has been cast as a series regular in Hulu’s forthcoming series Tiny Beautiful Things. Based on Cheryl Strayed’s bestselling book of the same name, Tiny Beautiful Things follows Clare (Kathryn Hahn), who starts an anonymous advice column under the pseudonym ‘Dear Sugar’ while her own life is falling apart. Tanzyn Crawford plays Rae Kincade, the queer teenage daughter of white mother Clare and black father Danny. Uncomfortable in her own skin and emotionally torn between her parents in their marital crisis, Rae begins to navigate her own opinions and make sense of her identity. In more casting news, returning cast members have been announced for the upcoming eleventh season of American Horror Story, including out actors Zachary Quinto, Isaac Powell, Joe Mantello and Sandra Bernhard. Additionally, out actor Zoe Terakes has joined the cast of the Disney+ series Ironheart, alongside previously announced RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Shea Couleé.
8.) Out Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, producer and author Brandi Carlile has launched an exclusive SiriusXM show Somewhere Over The Radio on The Spectrum (ch. 28). On the show, Carlile will curate music from artists who are part of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies, while having candid conversations with her guests between songs. Tune in to the first show tonight on satellite and the SXM App to hear artists such as Tracy Chapman, Elton John, Indigo Girls, Dolly Parton and more (new episodes on the first Wednesday of every month at 2 p.m. ET); check out a sneak peek here! 9.) The Television Critics Association (TCA) has announced the winners of their 38th Annual TCA Awards. ABC’s first-year classroom sitcom Abbott Elementary, featuring an awkward gay history teacher (Chris Perfetti), was the top winner with four victories. Additional LGBTQ-inclusive winners include HBO’s ballroom competition series Legendary (Outstanding Achievement in Reality Programming) and GLAAD Media Award-nominated miniseries Dopesick (Outstanding Achievement in Movies, Miniseries, Or Specials). 10.) The first season of the new documentary podcast series Sound Barrier, centering artists who made pioneering contributions to music and culture, has been released exclusively on Spotify. This season documents the illustrious career of LGBTQ music icon Sylvester, delving deep into his music, life, and gender-bending glory. The podcast, hosted by Jason King, includes never-before-heard interviews, recordings, and demos from Sylvester himself, as well as guest appearances from stars such as Billy Porter, Patti LaBelle, Anita Pointer, Mykki Blanco, Alex Newell, Bob the Drag Queen, Big Freedia, DJ Nicky Siano and more.
