The GLAAD Wrap: Teasers for ‘Scream VI’ and ‘Somebody Somewhere’, new music from boygenius, a kid named rufus, and more!

Every week, The GLAAD Wrap brings you LGBTQ-related entertainment news highlights, fresh stuff to watch out for, and fun diversions to help you kick off the weekend.

1.) Michael B. Jordan’s highly-anticipated directorial debut Creed III hits theaters today! Following the events of Creed II, Adonis “Donnie” Creed (Jordan) is thriving in both his boxing career and family life. But when a childhood friend and former boxing prodigy, Damian “Dame” Anderson (Jonathan Majors), resurfaces from prison, he is eager to prove that he deserves his shot in the ring. Bisexual actress Tessa Thompson plays Bianca Taylor, an aspiring musician and the love interest of the titular Donnie Creed. Check out the trailer below and watch Creed III now!

2.) Paramount Pictures teases “The Most Ruthless Ghostface” in a new featurette, with insights from the cast and crew of Scream 6. In the sequel, the four survivors of the latest Ghostface killings, including lesbian character Mindy Meeks-Martin (queer Yellowjackets star Jasmin-Savoy Brown), leave Woodsboro behind in search of a new beginning in New York City. However, they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when a killer embarks on a bloody rampage through the city that never sleeps! Find the video below and watch Scream 6 on March 10.

3.) Anonymous Content has announced the film adaptation of gay author Ryan La Sala’s bestselling novel The Honeys. The social horror follows a queer teen named Mars, who investigates the connection between the mysterious death of his twin sister and the Honeys, a group of beautiful yet terrifying girls that attend the prestigious Aspen Conservancy Summer Camp. As Mars enters the Honey’s world he discovers that they are guarding a dark secret that could cost him everything. Check out The Honeys novel before it hits the silver screen!

4.) Disney has released the first teaser trailer for Haunted Mansion, its theme park attraction-turned-creepy comedy adventure! The film centers on a woman and her son who enlist a group of spiritual “experts” to rid their home of supernatural squatters. Directed by award-winning gay filmmaker Justin Simien, the all-star ensemble cast includes out actor and producer Dan Levy; watch the trailer below and catch Haunted Mansion in theaters July 28!

5.) Sony has aquired the rights to the Sister comedy My Ex-Friend’s Wedding, starring queer Academy Award winner Ariana DeBose and bisexual actress and comedian Megan Stalter! Penned by buzzy bestselling author Taylor Jenkins Reid, the film follows four childhood friends as they receive a drunken voicemail from their former bestie on the eve of her wedding day. After confessing that she thinks she’s making a huge mistake, the gang sets out to stop the wedding and rekindle the friendship they once shared. 

6.) Gay comedian Karan Soni has been tapped to voice Spider-Man India in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, set for release on June 2. The film transports Brooklyn’s friendly neighborhood webslinger across the Multiverse, where he joins forces with Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld) while working with a new team of Spider-People to face off with a villian more powerful than anything they’ve ever faced! In more Karan Soni news, the actor is set to lead the heist comedy Stealing Pulp Fiction, billed as a love letter to the classic Quentin Tarantino pic. 7.) Kansas called and HBO answered with a new teaser trailer for Somebody Somewhere season two! In the sophomore season, Sam (Bridget Everett) continues to find solace in singing with her community of outsiders while settling into a comfortable routine with Joel (out actor and comedian Jeff Hiller). Trans drag king and comedian Murray Hill also reprises his role as Fred, a University soil scientist by day, and Master of Ceremonies in a flashy suit by night. Watch Somebody Somewhere April 23!

8.) Gay Heroes star Zachary Quinto is making his return to NBC as the titular character in Wolf, a medical drama pilot executive produced by gay director Greg Berlanti. Based on author Oliver Sacks’ books The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat and An Anthropologist on Mars, Wolf follows revolutionary neurologist Dr. Oliver Wolf (Quinto) and his team of interns as they explore the human mind and grapple with their personal relationships and mental health. Drawn to people society deems as “other”, Wolf embraces their differences and helps them find hope and purpose in life. 

9.) Trans Genera+ion actress Nava Mau has been set to star in Netflix’s upcoming drama series Baby Reindeer! Based on writer-creator Richard Gadd’s own life experience and play of the same name, the series explores dark buried trauma. Mau portrays Teri, the partner of Donny (Gadd), who is in a complicated relationship with his stalker Martha (Jessica Gunning). 10.) Queer supergroup boygenius, comprised of out artists Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker, has released an official music video to their single “Not Strong Enough”, off their upcoming album the record; pre-order the album, out March 31, and watch the video below! Additionally, out rapper, activist, and politician Mariah Parker, who performs as Linqua Franqa, has shared their new single “The Whole Bank”; be sure to check out their music video in collaboration with Debt Collective! In more music news, queer alt-pop artist a kid named rufus has debuted their new single “tryhard”; stay tuned for their forthcoming debut album later this year! Queer jazz singer Mathew V has also released his rendition of Peggy Lee’s “Big Spender“, off his upcoming album Anything Goes, out April 14. Watch Mathew and his quintet perform “Big Spender” live and pre-order Anything Goes today! Lastly, gay singer-songwriter Sam Williams has unveiled a vulnerable new song “Lost Its Allure.”
