The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills descended upon BravoCon in New York City’s Javits Center along with other cohorts from the Bravo TV universe and the sold-out crowd was ready to eat up all the drama from the show which Lisa Rinna described to GLAAD’s Anthony Allen Ramos as a blend of Dynasty and Saturday Night Live.

The cast members of the Swarovski-encrusted prong of the wildly popular franchise chatted with Ramos about multiple topics including why the wives think the show has such a loyal LGBTQ following.

“Everybody likes to be a fly on the wall and get in on the drama,” original cast member Kyle Richards told Ramos. “All these ladies have such big personalities, the clothes – everything [is] over the top. [It] kind of lends itself to that.”

Richards professed her love for the community and although the wives don’t get along all the time, they are unanimous when it comes to their love for the LGBTQ community.

Rinna, who has been a dedicated GLAAD advocate from the jump, “I love you all so much,” she said in regards to the community. “I think it’s so important for everyone to have a voice and to be loved and to be who they are.”

Kathy Hilton added, “Fans are very passionate. They are smart. You can’t put anything past them – they need their own show!”

GLAAD supporter Erika Jayne said that many of her family, friends and mentors are part the LGBTQ community and said she was “grateful” that these are her people. Sutton Stracke spoke about how she went to an arts school and was surrounded by the LGBTQ community in the ‘80s. “We were a bonded group of people and that has continued on to my life,” Stracke said.

When Garcelle Beauvais was asked about why it is important to her to support the LGBTQ community she simply said, “Why wouldn’t I be?”

Beauvais continued, “I think it’s really important for inclusion. I think it’s really important for little kids to feel like if they’re different in that way, that it’s okay. I think we should embrace [it] — especially in the Black community. So many times, they want to pray the gay out of you. I’m not saying everybody, but it’s really important for us to accept each other as we are and just love one another as we are.”

On Sunday at BravoCon, Andy Cohen announced an all new cast of “The Real Housewives of New York City,” including Jenna Lyons who is a part of the LGBTQ community. “Bravo has a long history of casting interesting, entertaining and dynamic LGBTQ people in their highly popular programming and it’s exciting to see Jenna Lyons, a highly successful woman in business and a member of the LGBTQ community, join the newly rebooted “The Real Housewives of New York City” which is one of the network’s most beloved series,” said Ramos.
